    Creating a great UK post-Brexit

The intention of this topic is to focus on the future, not re-run the referendum campaign. At the same time we need to see if there is anything we can all learn from what happened and changes that would help us in the future.

So saying one side was right or wrong is off the table! This is about how we come together by focusing on what we want our future to look like.

A suggested agenda of items to discuss is shown below, but don't feel restricted to that.

    Agenda

What do we think now needs to happen to create the best future possible for our children and grandchildren?

In order to look at the future we do need to look back a bit and first ask ourselves:

What did we learn from the referendum and the subsequent election that needs action or change for the future?

    • About free movement and immigration?
    • Are there facts we still need in order to make the right decisions?
    • About the way we do democracy in the UK?
    • About taking and influencing the big decisions?
    • About representation?
    • About young voters?
    • About our education system?
    • About the media?
    • About us as a country/culture?
    • About the EU?
Is there anything additional we have learnt so far from the negotiations, or how we have handled the situation as a country?

Is Theresa May’s Lancaster House Speech and the principles in it broadly the right way forward?

What is the best way of reuniting the whole country?

Is the current P42 draft manifesto a basis for a great UK?

Creating a Good Future after Brexit - Output from ‘Deep Thought’ Pie and Pint Meeting 9

In this meeting we focused on ways to create a good future after Brexit and, without replaying the referendum, see what we could all learn from the process we went through.

There were 6 of us in the meeting including both those who voted to remain and those who voted to leave.

Plenty of humour and we reached consensus without a raised voice!

You can see the output at www.probably42.net/documents/2/27/creating-a-good-future-after-brexit-output-from-deep-thought-pie-and-pint-meeting-9
