Agenda – National and Individual Wellbeing

    Introduction

In the past, our focus and measure of progress as a country has been largely about GDP with an assumed trickle-down effect; our manifesto currently suggests:

    • ‘Governing for all’ Measures. Three groups of measures which receive the same prominence as GDP
    • ‘For the good of all’ measures e.g. ‘life satisfaction’ (already monitored by ONS), ‘safety/security’, ‘house and rental ratios to average salary’
    • ‘Company contribution’ measures e.g. ‘productivity improvement’, ‘ratio of tax paid in UK to sales in UK’, ‘social contribution’
    • Country success e.g. GDP and subsets of GDP, long-term planning improvement and Innovation measures

    Topics

What other groups of measures do we need apart from the 3 identified above?

Taking each group in turn what specific measures could we introduce in each?

What subsets of the population would we want to look at using the above measures to ensure things were improving for the good of all?

How would these be reported on such that progress was visible to the population?
