The topic for June is: The top 10 issues and opportunities of our time
Introduction
Since the election, the Government has portrayed a picture of problems and decline almost everywhere one looks. It is easy to be overwhelmed by this scenario especially in the light of international disorder. So, we need to get some structure and priorities into addressing the situation.
Probably42 is about identifying proposals to address the big issues and opportunities of our time. So this is an opportunity to do an analysis of the issues and opportunities scene. To review what we think they are, come up with our Top 10, see to what extent they match the 10 Top Transformative Strategies in our Manifesto and see which ones the Government is currently addressing.
Agenda
What are our top-of-mind issues and opportunities? Are these indicators of something bigger?
What do we each think are the top three short-term issues, top three long-term issues and top three opportunities for the country? Are these silo issues and opportunities, or pervasive issues and opportunities? Are there any approaching issues and opportunities which haven’t surfaced yet?
Are these tackled by the 10 top transformative strategies in our manifesto?
Which issues do we think the Government is actively trying to tackle? Does the current spending review reflect this? Is it taking a joined-up approach?
Can we turn any of the issues into opportunities by addressing them in the right way? Are there holistic approaches that would address multiple issues? Will exploiting the opportunities remove any of the issues?
