    Retirement – What is its significance in a 21st century society?

    • What is retirement these days? Has it changed?
    • What are the pros and cons of retirement? Is the retired population a burden or an opportunity? Is retirement a good thing for individuals? Is it good for the country?
    • What are the implications of AI for retirement?

     

    • What should retirement look like in the 21st century? How will retirement change both for individuals and for couples?
    • Do we need to reshape retirement further for an aging population?
    • Should and how can the retired population contribute more to society? Is harnessing the retired population an opportunity for Government?
    • Is there a need for a ‘retirement infrastructure’ to enable this?

     

    Notes

    Retirement is the first time in our lives when we have no structure to guide us.  Our Probably42 document Retiree Foundation - Proposition produced in 2020 is relevant to the discussion. It puts forward a retirement infrastructure to release the potential of individuals in later life for their benefit and for the benefit of society.
