    Thanks Geoff interesting article.

    However, I personally think the whole bias thing while needing to be tackled is a bit of a side show. I think one of the side effects of directly mimicking how humans identify patterns inevitably means that bad patterns will be reinforced as well as good, if there is no moderation. However with AI it is much easier to impose rules and have them universally applied than with humans eg diversity rules.

    The bigger problem would arise if we allow AI systems to develop feelings, then, just like humans, how they develop will be based on the sum total of their experience. However again we will need to assume the role of parent and teach them a set of things. In one sense that would be worse as it would introduce our biases but as long as those rules were open and agreed in public it should be effective in our terms.
